Speed Up Your Industrial Spare Parts

--

Bosch achieves a 50% efficiency increase through the automated review of all spare parts lists of new machines with SPARETECH’s technology.

SPARETECH digitizes spare part inventories, calculates the real demand, compares various suppliers, and sources the required parts. SPARETECH’s SaaS creates transparency and efficiency while sustainably reducing inventories, costs, and CO2 emissions by leveraging intelligent matching algorithms and the world’s most comprehensive part database.

Challenge

Bosch aimed to reduce spare part inventories and MRO time spent in its leading plants while ensuring spare part availability at the highest level. SPARETECH’s user-friendly, future-proof, and adaptable concept can be transferred 1-to-1 to other plants, regardless of whether it is about management, storage, sales, or availability contracts of spare parts. Coordinated by a central function, five leading Bosch plants use the software to eliminate duplicates within one plant and across several plants; discover obsolete and discontinued parts and exchange them with cheaper alternatives; check new parts automatically against existing inventory and the SPARETECH database to avoid unnecessary purchases.

Solution

At the very beginning Bosch was looking for an automated solution to speed up the MRO process and improve data quality. SPARETECH’s SaaS with intelligent matching algorithms and a database with over 20 million original spare parts database was selected to optimize SAP Material Master data. Within the first pilot, the SPARETECH app was firmly rooted in the everyday work at Bosch Blaichach. After that, the steady rollout was introduced to more business units such as Powertrain Solutions, Vehicle Motion, and Automotive Electronics. Bosch’s “Just Do it” mindset was essential to build a successful partnership with a startup. The teams displayed a willingness to break new ground as well as the confidence to continue even during difficult times.

Outcome

The results of the collaboration showed a 50% efficiency increase along with the identification of 14% similar, duplicate spare parts. In addition, the identification of 10% obsolete parts led to a 10% inventory reduction, enabling Bosch to reduce its spare part spending. Overall, SPARETECH helped Bosch reduce the operational time, costs, downtime, and CO2 emissions just by better managing spare parts. As a result of the successful pilot project, Bosch will join SPARETECH on its vision to enable zero waste industrial spare parts by planning a global rollout into all Bosch factories.
